I have successfully run over 5,000+ high gloss ceramic greeting cards, several 13x19 fine art prints (different paper stock, some costing as much as $20 a sheet!). My results are in: The CIS unit for the Epson R1900 has successfully passed all tests and the quality of ink between OEM and what Ink Republic sells is identical. The cost savings is huge, beyond huge. I actually can make a decent profit on small products now, such as greeting cards that sell for $3.50. I pay approximately $.58 for each blank ceramic card, $.07 for each linen envelope and with using standard OEM ink, non CIS, my total cost to produce one card was $1.05-$1.15 per unit depending on coverage. I honestly have not yet been able to calculate the cost using the CIS because I am still on the original CIS ink tanks! On a typical print run using non CIS, OEM inks, I would replace at least 2-3 tanks per 1,000 print run. The cost was huge. The only complaint I have, and I don't feel this is any fault of all of Ink Republic, is that resetting the inks can be a little bit of a pain, at first. I followed your videos, your help files, and reviews and this is essentially what I have found works every time:
When resetting any ink tank:
Set dip switches, press change ink. If I repeat this process 3 times (a total of six times pushing the ink change button), I will have a successful reset. It would be great to be able to have it automatically reset or to even reset on the first try. I do not hold this fault as a failure of Ink Republic, this is strictly an Epson issue. Maybe in the future there will be a fix for this? Maybe some type of software that can trick the printer? I am not sure, but it really isn't a big deal once you get used to the procedure.
