InkRepublic R1800 i-INK2 system - by Paul R. Hornung

I have been a long time Ink Republic ("IR") customer. I was one of the first to buy the IR CIS when the Epson R800 first same out. Since then I have enjoyed many a printing sesson knowing I have paid for quality ink/paper rather than a bunch of media hype.

Clearly the CIS route is not for the faint of heart. I have found my best results by creating my own printer profiles. IR takes most of the trial and error out of the equation.

The Ink Republic CIS in connection with proper profiles will result in very nice results. Using the new Lyson Cave Paint ink I would say the gamut is identical (with slight favcor in the reds for Lyson) and Lyson about 90-95% as glossy as Epson OEM ink on high gloss paper such as Red River UltraPro Gloss.

The I-Ink 2 system is even better than the original in that the yellow and magenta inks seem to flow smoother. This is on my R1800.

I know there is a difference in the original IR System and I-Ink2 system because I had to make new profiles. The newer system also has the larger tubes.

Oh yeah, Ink Republic customer service is BAR NONE the best I have seen since getting into digital photography. Several times they have sent me replacements when I was careless with parts. All at no charge. This comapny is NOT the typical internet experience.
